TASK attends many community events with resources, education and tools to support our community. We give out medicine lock bags which can make it harder for kids to have access to prescription drugs, medicine, marijuana, or even vape pens in the home. TASK also gives out Dettera Drug Deactivation kits, which can help get rid of unwanted, unused, or expired prescription pills or medicine in the home. TASK was also instrumental in seeing the opioid reversal drug Narcan is more readily available in the community and in all the Schools.
Drug Take Back Days
TASK works in partnership with the South Lake Tahoe Police Department to host biannual Drug Take Back Days. During these events, community members can dispose of unwanted prescriptions or other drugs without penalty. TASK has worked to install permanent drug take back bins at the South Lake Tahoe Police Station and El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office in South Lake Tahoe. These occur for the National Day during October each year and another one in April in conjunction to the South Lake Tahoe Earth Day Festival.
Community Events
TASK has worked to be present at community events such as the annual the Drug Store Project, Earth Day Celebration, Community Health Fairs, Kick Start Days, and back to school nights. Additionally, TASK members attend city council, school board, and Community Health Advisory Committee meetings to impact decisions which may affect the healthy development of our youth.
