Keeping Tahoe Kids Safe
The Tahoe Alliance for Safe Kids -TASK, is a 501c3 non-profit organization. TASK’s
mission is to prevent and reduce youth substance abuse and related harm – Keeping
kids safe in collaboration with our community partners.
TASK was formerly the Drug Free Collaborative housed under Tahoe Youth & Family- TY&F, created in 2008 in conjunction with a grant that was received to address homeless youth and substance abuse. TY&F hired a Coalition Coordinator who ran the group and executed the specifics of the grant which included 24 sectors of the community to be involved. The grant was renewed in 2013 and continued to be managed by TY&F. Then around 2018 the grant was not renewed and the coordinator position went away. A handful of the Coalitions members kept the group going. In 2020 the name of the group was changed to Tahoe Alliance for Safe Kids and focus was directed at youth in the community around education & prevention. In 2023 TASK officially became a 501C3
